Yogyakarta Royal Garden

royal gardenTaman Sari Yogyakarta or Yogyakarta Palace Site is a former palace gardens or gardens (Royal Garden) Yogyakarta palace. The Garden was built in the era of Sultan Hamengku Buwono I (HB I) in the years 1758-1765/9. Originally, the garden that get called “The Fragrant Garden” has a broad more than 10 hectares with approximately 57 buildings such as buildings, pond bathing, hanging bridges, water canals, artificial lakes and artificial islands and the alley and down the water. Garden used effectively between 1765-1812 at the beginning, this extends from the southwest to southeast Kedhaton complex Magangan complex. However, at this time, the remnants of the Taman Sari which can be seen only in the southwest Kedhaton complex only.

Taman Sari was built in the former palace long, Pesanggrahan Garjitawati, which was founded by Susuhunan Paku Buwono II as a resting place that will train horses to go to Imogiri. As leaders of the project development Taman Sari ditunjuklah Tumenggung Mangundipuro. The entire cost of development by the Regent of Madiun, Prawirosentiko Tumenggung, besrta all people. Taman Sari least complex can be divided into 4 parts. The first is the artificial lake that is located in the west. Is the next building which is located on the south side of the lake, among others, made Umbul The Binangun. The third is Pasarean Ledok Swimming Garjitawati and Sari, located in the south of the second section. The last part is the section east of the first and second and extends to the east to southeast Magangan complex.
